PROCESS
Handmade in LA
Griffin Design is founded on the principle that balance in artistic expression yields timeless results. This core foundation to the business is applied by blending traditional craftsmanship with modern sensibilities and allowing form to follow function. It’s a merging of the old and the new, traditions with innovation, and nature with the man-made. Perhaps our greatest attribute at Griffin Design is adhering to a critical eye and editing our design solutions for a seamless process that exceeds the expectations of our collaborative partners.
Our process starts with a thorough exploration of ideas with the client and addressing their needs and wishes. Founder Edmund Griffin works solely with the buyer much like a partner because we believe some of the best concepts in design are sparked through collaboration. Unlike contemporary ready-made furniture by large manufacturers, the emerging urban dweller can now collaborate with a skilled designer and fabricator in producing unique solutions for their home. Balancing an artistic approach with technical precision, Griffin Design produces, not just furniture, but heirlooms that are meant to be treasured by generations to come.
Rooted in the American tradition and standard of furniture making, Griffin Design embraces the heritage of what it means to be made in the USA. Griffin hand selects each piece of wood and works side-by-side with the various skilled artisans in producing his vision. In many cases, his hands are responsible for sculpting, molding, carving, and constructing the various requirements to ensure the level of quality and consistency. The outcome is hand–crafted, hand–finished and handsomely produced in L.A.
